Tarot Blog Hop – A Wrong Turn at Delphi… 18

… That’s when you know it’s time surrender to the flow …

I keep thinking to myself, it’s fine; in fact it is perfect, everything will work out and here I am on the day of the blog hop and I am running late. Not intentionally though, its a technological thing (yet again)… I have this love/hate relationship with technology, when it works, it works amazingly and when it doesn’t… Well you’ve heard what happened to the dinosaurs.

Whether you are familiar with blog hopping, blogging or if you are just joining in for the first time, then welcome to the chaos that is my contribution to this month. A hop if you are not familiar with this; it is a group of writers and bloggers coming together on a singular subject and exploring it from their point of view; we then link to one anothers blog (albeit earlier than originally planned) and thus the hop is birthed (prematurely and late birth for this one… wyrd huh?).

This was meant to be about the Aces, but I swear the Oh Gods of Technology and the Delphi Oracles, have other plans for this one, and yet even as I sit here and allow the flow to just take over, I get the sense of the Aces playing their part. However they’re not playing an active role in this, they’re on the side lines so to speak, sheltered by everything else. The rest of the suits and the major cards as well are forefront again playing the part of the protector.

When you have the Aces present, what do they make you think about, for me the directions and the quarters. Now here is where it all goes chaotic, which one belongs where? For me Wood burns, therefore The Ace of Clubs would be Fire, A Sword cuts Air, therefore for the Ace of Swords would be Air, Pentacles, are metalic and made of earthly materials and so the Ace of Pentacles (Coins in some decks) would be Earth, leaving the Cups, holding water so therefore the Ace of Cups would be Water.

I would argue that this makes absolute perfect sense, I would say that my understanding is right; but then I would. It can be argued that Swords represent Fire, Batons/Clubs represent Air and the other two would be fine as they are, but then this argument would be right, I would be wrong and so would my understanding, but then it would be right… and so would I. It depends on how you came into Tarot, it depends on where you learnt those skills; neither one is wrong, just as neither one is absolutely right.

Recently there has been a spate of click-bate, misinformation, fake-news and ‘alternative facts’ it’s about seperation and fear; it’s about who controls who, and it’s about placing us where others feel we need to be placed and ultimately it comes down to power. I have tried several times to ride the currents of the collective and get a sense of where things are going but I swear I keep taking a wrong turn at Delphi, I keep sensing the Ten’s of each Suit, doing a Wheel of Fortuna and sending me back to the start again.

That’s when I started to realise that I just need to stop, it’s when you start ending up back at where you started that you know its time to surrender to the flow. Simply let the eddies and the current take you where is needed, not where is wanted. It’s the only way to be…

So yeah this has been my blog hop experience, don’t forget to leave me a comment (even if it does say about time or better later than never)…

Totally love everything about this! In qabalah we say that Malkuth (10) is the Kether (1) of a new Tree. I’m sorry to hear that technology blew you a raspberry but raspberry lemonade is so sweet!

It’s an age old story Joy, I actually went into IT so as to learn how to repair the mistakes that I seemed to cause just by being near a PC or anything technological, the whole thing is just an extension of this wyrd natural energy that cause folks (including myself at times) to develop a bad case of the drops, where anything held just seems to fall out of folks hands or the space thing that occurs when I am out and about…

Thanks also for the reminder about the 10’s / 1’s symbology, just had a long conversation with Hubby about aramaic based cultures and languages, how they don’t have decimalisation, which is where we get out 10, 11, 12 etc, for them it would revert back 1, 2, 3 etc; since 9 would be the highest number and there is no 0; but then I am babbling cause you already know this stuff :3

      • Joy Vernon

Yes, I know all about that energy thing you describe! Sounds like an interesting conversation with your husband. I love going on and on about all this kind of stuff!

I’m very much the same way Joy, more so at the moment. So much going on that is attracting my attention that I get a little caught up in the talking but without losing my place at the same time…

I didn’t even have the excuse of technology – I was just late through a lack of attention to detail on my part πŸ˜€

Heh, it happens to us all at some point. I was four hours out because some time conversion site told me that in the UK the time would be 9pm, not 5pm…

The experience of being carried by the eddies and currents resonates quite a bit with me, and in the same context! It’s far easier to agree to disagree about Swords and Wands, and far more challenging when another’s perspective has power over how you live your life and experience the world. I fluctuate between feeling empowered and disempowered, but ultimately I keep checking the news each morning to see what new developments have manifested πŸ˜‰

I have to admit, that I have stopped watching the news. I have reverted to if is big bad and ugly, Facebook or the laptop news app will tell me; for the weather I look out of the window and see what the clouds are doing and whether its wet or dry. Typically I know its cold because of the way the windows behave. The rest I just let the natural current and flow of the day carry me along and I work in my plans accordingly. I have honestly started to revert back to a simpler way of being as much as possible.

Thanks Joanne, there is so much interconnection played out through the cards, as well as many other systems that it sometimes becomes hard to ignore it.

I think I ended up early because of technology which then decided to fail me the next day – but the world keeps spinning I suppose. It’s always interesting, the debate of Swords/Fire Swords/Air in tarot. I’ve always personally found Swords/Fire resonates better with me yet there are those who would look at you horrified for changing it. I think the one thing I have learned in tarot is that there is not always a right way or a wrong way, just a way. A way of getting the message, a way of seeing what’s in front of you and a way of being one with the cards and feeling them however they speak to you. And here I am practically writing a blog post now.

Technology is something that I am strange bedfellows with on any given day, but yeah the world keeps spinning (believe me some days I get motion sickness because of it), it really is a whole topic in itself Stacey and yep it is funny how you get some very irrate ‘pros’ when you dare suggest that there could be a different way of perceiving the elements in relation to the suits. I do agree it is what resonates with you at the end of the day and there is no right and wrong, because let’s face it, the true meanings of the cards are lost to time, the elements and the monks, the gypsies or the gods depending on what mythos you follow πŸ™‚

Love that thought that when you find yourself back where you started, that it’s time to surrender to the flow!
Ace energy will find us, and guide us, no matter how we try and deny it, ignore it, move past it – it will invariably return us to where we need to be (in a ‘do not pass go, do not collect $200’ kind of way)! πŸ™‚
I’m with you on the suits, recognising Air as Swords and Wands as Fire, but that’s potentially my pagan background that has helped cement that approach into my mindset! πŸ™‚

    • Jay Post author

That’s the same with me, I have had some endless debates over the quarters/elements relationship as well; I’ll always perceive North as the first quarter and always associate it with the earth element, east as the air element, south as the fire element and water as the water element. It’s what feels right, likewise its the same with the suits/element relationship; I partially resonate with my witch roots but I have soul connections to Five Element Theort as well, which is where I also get me connections for the cards from. It’s like you’ve said Scott, these things do help to cement the approach and understanding.

Plus ca change plus c’est la meme chose… The more things change the more the stay the same… Shame DT is not going back to Delphi… That would make for some interesting politics, what with the ides of March coming up…

    • Jay Post author

Took me a second to figure out the intitals but they dropped a few moments ago and yes! That would be interesting, makes you wonder what the Delphi Oracle would make of the world now… I wonder if they still have a descendant of the original Oracles still there?

    • Jay Post author

It was an interesting journey, I’ve got a fascination with the Delphi Oracles but I get the sense that its because I believe that such gifts are still ever present in this modern age. Mind you, I had to grab the sides of my crate as I rode some of these eddies, as I swear at times I hadn’t a clue where on earth it was taking me, or if I was still on Earth for that matter. Really glad you enjoyed it Arwen and thank you for the comment, yay for the Swords = Air camp πŸ™‚ xx
